A) Overview - top

BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE DOING ANY WORK ON YOUR WEBSITE - I can't be responsible for any data or content loss.

Your Web Works Divi Child Theme is designed to get budding and or established web developers up and running with a fully stocked website ready to put in front of your prospects. The carefully crafted content is automatically updated to reflect your personal and business information once the Web Works Options have been filled in.

All images used in the theme have a Creative Commons designation of C00. They have either been created by me or have been acquired from public domains and are yours to use as you see fit.

B) Installation - top

Upon downloading the .zip file from http://divilicious.com you'll have all files inside the theme package. Upload the entire file you get from Divi Licious into the themes folder (wp-content/themes/).

There are two ways to upload a theme;

a) Upload By FTP: Login your hosting space via an FTP software and upload the theme folder into wp-content/themes/ under your WordPress installation. Once you've uploaded the theme you can open Open WordPress
Admin Dashboard → Appearance → Themes page and activate the theme from list.

b) Upload By WordPress Admin:

Content Importing - top

a) Go to Admin Dashboard  → Divi → Import Demo Data. This child theme requires three plugins. If you do not have these plugins activated, a notice will appear at the top of the page. Use the Begin Activating Plugins link to install and or activate the required plugins.

b) Read the instructions to understand what is happening, when your ready, click the big orange button to begin content import.

C) Web Works Theme Settings - top

In the WordPress admin area you'll see an additional menu which named "Web Works Options"

B1) Personal Options- top

In the Web Works Options page you will find some options for controlling your page without touching codes. For example; you can set the Business Name, website address and many other personal detail. Be sure to fill in all the blanks. What you enter here will appear in pre-selected locations throughout the website.

B2) Styling Options- top

Using Theme Customize option you can change the skin of your page, also there are plenty options to control Heading's color, Body Font Color and Menu Color.

B3) Portfolio Options

Use the Projects admin menu items to add/edit/delete portfolio items found on the Our Work website page.

B4) Contact Forms Options- top

Your theme uses the Contact Form 7 plugin to manage the New Project Questionnaire and Newsletter Signup form in the footer.

  1. Go to Admin Dashboard → Contact
  2. Open each form for editing.
  3. Add your email address in the To input box.
  4. Replace the domain name with your own in all instance that it occurs.
  5. Edit the fields which additional content/customizations as necessary.
  6. Hit 'Save

B5) Social Media Options

To activate the social media icons bottom of the header Secondary Menu and the Footer you need to use the Theme Customizer. Be sure to setup links to your social media sites in the Divi Theme Options section.

D) Main and Footer menus - top

There are three embedded menu of the theme; Main Menu, Secondary Menu and Footer Menu.

  1. Go, Wordpress Appearance → Menu
  2. Choose the menu you want to edit from the tabs
  3. Add your items, organize them and click Save Menu button.

The Appearance Menus SubPanel is available beginning with Worpdress 3.0. If you're new on this new menu feature of wordpress please read this article carefully; http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel

To use all items like products, portfolio items, tags etc. check the Screen Options to insure those modules are set to display.

D) Home Page Contents- top

There are three home page layouts to choose from;

  1. Video Animation Full Page Header
  2. Static Full Page Header
  3. Ken Burns Effect Full Page Header

To change what page appears, go to Admin Dashboard → Settings → Reading

E) Portfolio Entries- top

In order to add new portfolio item you need to use the integrated  Divi Projects custom post type. There are several things you must know;

  1. The Our Work page is using Divi's Filterable Portfolio Module. The links are determined by the categories. Categories can be added/edited/deleted. If categories are changed, the Filterable Portfolio Module on the Our Work page will need to be opened and modified to reflect which categories you want to show on the page.
  2. The images that show on the Our Work page are determined by the Featured Image that is set on each individual Project (single portfolio item).
  3. You are welcome to use my work until such time as you create your own.


F) Shortcodes and Quick Styling Buttons- top

Web Works Divi Child Theme comes with some great shortcodes that allow you to add theme styled buttons. In order to use them, you need to edit/add posts, pages or widgets and enter the shortcodes into the content area.

Open the Support page to view shortcodes:

You can find all the shortcodes and quick styling buttons on the the Visual view mode of the editor.

I) PSD Files

You can find available PSD files that used with the theme in the PSD Files folder. Many graphics I have created also have PSD files but because of their large file sizes I've elected to make these files available upon request only.
